In all it’s glory, I present the Duchess!

Tantus recently released the Duchess dildo and I got a release kit for review (and a Duchess to giveaway!) and I’ve spent a little time using and abusing the Duchess. As per usual, this specimen of sex toyosity was provided in exchange for an unbiased review.

Tantus Duchess: An Introduction

The Duchess dildo by Tantus isn’t reaaaallly a new design. It’s kinda sorta the Tantus Duke in Tantus’ O2 silicone, which is a dual density formulation that feels a LOT more realistic than the harder silicone of most of their offerings. I can’t really offer a comparison, and I can’t say they are exactly the same as I’ve never reviewed the Duke.

Drying after the pre-use rinse!

I digress, but the Duke and Duchess are both fairly large diameter toys with a thick head designed to seek out your prostate or g-spot with ease. The Duchess is also available in both vibrating (it has a spot for a bullet vibe) or non-vibrating (no vibe slot). The vibrating Duchess dildo by Tantus is also compatible with their suction cup attachment (for those that like sticking dildos places before they stick dildos places) and both versions are harness compatible for all of your strapped up/on/down needs.

Does it actually hit the right spots? Is the Duchess realistic feeling? How well does the suction cup work? Read on, dear friend.

Basic Duchess Info:

Duchess Size:

Diameter: 1.6″ Shaft, 1.8″ Head
Insertable Length: 6.5″

Duchess Material:

Tantus’ premium body safe O2 silicone

Tantus Duchess Care and Storage:

Cleaning the Duchess dildo:

Hot soapy water, toy cleaner, 10% bleach solution, dishwasher, or boiling are your friends. If you aren’t one to spend time cleaning your toys before and after use, condoms can work well.

Lubing Duchess:

Water based or oil based lubes are perfectly fine. If you’ve got a vagina, stay away from oils (except for coconut oil) in the vagina. For real. Some silicone lubes are safe, but you’ll wanna test ’em on the base somewhere first.

Storing Duchess

The softer outer layer of Tantus O2 silicone toys isn’t as hardy as most of the rest of the silicone toys you’ll encounter, so I wouldn’t recommend lobbing it across the room. Dyes from cruddy toys or leather can transfer, so be careful.

My/Our Experience With The Tantus Duchess:

Newish thing I’ll be doing is adding insights from using toys on or with my girlfriend. Mind you, she won’t be as long winded or verbose as I am but she will have input and I’ll probably insert it where I can.

duchess dildo head

The head is quite squishy. Not flesh squishy, but close.

I had the Duchess for a week or so before we finally got around to using it, but when we did… It was worth it.

Her Thoughts:

“It’s amazing.”
“It definitely hits the spot”
“Even better when you’re eating me out and it inside”

My Experience Wielding The Duchess Dildo:

I’m still trying to get her into using toys on her own, so I had to use it with her in the name of science. It took some work and a lot of foreplay, but eventually when the bulgiest part of the head slipped in…. I could tell my efforts were appreciated, to say the least. It’s a fairly thick dildo and the texture on the shaft (it’s a matte finish silicone) takes a little more lube (au natural or the bottled/packed stuff) to be comfortable for her.

My Experience Wielding and Experiencing Duchess:

An idea of how pronounced the head is…

Obviously, I’m still going to be reviewing products from my solo (read: male perspective) experiences. It’s been a while since I played with anything anally due to miscellaneous life stuffs, so “getting down to bidness” took more warmup than I’m used to. I grabbed my lube of choice (I mixed ID Glide with Maximus in the Maximus bottle, and it rocks!) and set to work. One thing instantly came to mind,  having spent some time with the Anaconda:

I like handles on dildos. They are awesome and I feel like most dildos need a version with a handle.

Other than that, the head of the Duchess is pretty pleasant. It’s not mind blowing like that of the T-Rex and it’s not to thin either (Tantus Gary, I’m looking at you)… It just works out right to be pleasant but not overwhelming. The shaft leaves a bit to desire. I don’t want it to be like an old fashioned washboard, but some texture besides the matte finish would certainly be welcome!

The vibrator that comes with the vibrating Duchess is a joke (it’s a placeholder, as I’ve said before about the little silver bullets included with some Tantus toys. They know it isn’t some ground breaking vibe, but it is better than not having one.), but as usual putting the We-Vibe Tango in the vibe slot takes the toy from pleasant to… slightly more pleasant. Nothing that your asshole is wrapped around like a crybabies emotions wrapped around a minimalist seasonal coffee cup is going to transmit vibes internally very well, unless that vibe is in the part completely inside you. The Duchess?

You won’t be getting insano-world anal vibrations out of it. You just won’t.

That slot though? It’s muuuuuch better for the Tantus suction cup (which is pretty bad ass, btw! It stuck to all kinds of stuff other suction cups have failed on for me!). The Duchess is a bit heavy so when it’s stuck to the wall, closet door, shower wall, refrigerator… You get the idea, but here’s a visual:

It just sags down like that.

Wherever you stick it?  It’s gonna sag some. There isn’t anything you can do to really stop it, except for getting it inserted and going to town. This is the first time I’ve had a dildo stick somewhere I can easily use it and it was pretty fucking amazing.

Overall Opinion Of Tantus Duchess Vibrating Dildo

Duchess Material:

Tantus’ bad ass silicone

Duchess Features:

Can be bought in vibrator or non-vibrator versions, both are harness compatible, and the vibrator version can be used with the Tantus suction cup. Also, the head is great for g-spot or prostate focused play!

Duchess Price:

Vibrating: $103
Non-Vibrating: $87.55

The Tantus Duchess is nice, but I want a handle version!

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the Duchess. It’s not some butt busting behemoth or anything, but it certainly hits the right spots if you are willing to put in the effort and have the dexterity to manipulate it well. My girlfriend absolutely loves it (I’ve even heard her raving to a friend about it, so it must be good) and I enjoyed the visuals while trying it out. It’s not too hard, not too soft, and thick enough to meet most folks needs in a pinch. It’s a bit pricey compared to a lot of the cheaper brands out there, but Tantus silicone is good stuff and their customer service will blow you away.

Using code MRWILL at checkout on any order at Tantusinc.com will save you 15% on EVERYTHING, so if you wanna grab a Duchess for yourself head on over and grab one today!

It’s good to see you back and reviewing again! You were certainly missed! I really appreciated the differing points of view, yours and your gf’s. And I totally agree that there need to be more dildos with handles.

Have yet to try a handled dildo. I feel that for me it’d have to be angled towards me to be helpful, like a V shape… Although I imagine its be great for partner play and the partner whose hand gets tired easily. Thanks for the review. Can’t wait to try the duchess…
